Christmas with Nana and Papa

What fun this Christmas Day has been- started today with what Santa brought, then to eat a great breakfast at Mamaw's now to Nana and Papa's house. We decided to have heavy appetizers- cause the kids never eat on Christmas anyway. Shawn cooked the best sliders (small hamburgers). We also had turkey, ham, nachos, shrimp, and for dessert cookie cake (for Callie's Birthday), carrot cake, and pecan pie. Now what the kids had been looking forward too- presents. This year we let the grandkids draw names (they could not tell who they got). This was the first thing we did they handed out there present to their cousin. Sam drew Smith's name- we got him a Tony Hawk tech deck. Jordan drew Patrick- we got him a golf chip net. Penny got Patton - we got him Pix-O. (Sam got Tony Hawk tech deck, Jordan got Pix-O, and Penny got stroller, baby doll, and lots of food for her kitchen). They had lots of fun doing this!!

Now for the other presents from Nana and Papa: Jordan - Camera, Vera Bradley stuff, lots of Gift Cards; Sam's - Nintendo DS in red, game for DS, clothes, tech deck, Star Wars, Alabama road sign; Penny's - bedding for when we move her into big girl bed, Fancy Nancy doll/book, bathing suit, makeup, lunch box.

Merry Christmas from our family to yours and a Happy New Year

Jordan comes home for Christmas

We got Jordan this year on Christmas Day. She came in and noticed her Santa loot. She knew that I had gotten a new notebook for Christmas but what she did not know was that she got one also in pink. I think we really did good on that one- she has already become a Facebook addict like the rest of us. She also got Vera Bradley bags, clothes, lots of funky socks, and stocking stuff.

Christmas breakfast with Mamaw

It is a tradition with our family that every Christmas day morning we go to Mamaw's house(Shawn's Grandmother) for a home cooked breakfast; eggs, bacon, ham, biscuits, and gravy. It is something you look forward to year round. Shawn has been know to eat up to 8 eggs before (that is the record)- only 3 this year. Well Mamaw's house is probably like most grandmothers - lots of stuff. (but outside--- well you have to see to believe- I have always told Shawn that he can not ever say I grew up in redneck Alabama until you see his grandmother's front yard). Enjoy!!!LOL

Santa Came to the Smith's house!

Wow Santa sure was good to the Smith kids this year!
Sam woke us up around 5:30 that morning wondering if Larry was gone and if Santa had come with presents??? I let him wake Penny up because he was not going in the den without her. Daddy told him to go and see if Santa had come- I wished you could have heard how fast he ran down the hall and back screaming he came he came (it was so dark in the den he could not even see what he had).

Sam and Penny getting ready to see what Santa brought!!

Sam was so excited about his presents (listen to the screaming)

We went in the den turned on the Christmas lights the screaming started up again- DAD he gave me this and this and so on... Penny then hopped down from my arms and spotted her bike and umbrella. It is so much fun to see the kids faces on Christmas morning.

After looking around at what was brought we walked down to the other den to get some batteries and looked what we found set up

a TENT!!

Sam has been very excited about his presents he has made for us - and I could not wait to open them- he made me a picture book with his hand print shaped like Santa and daddy a mug with Thumb body loves you on it. My favorite present he made his daddy was a $100 dollar bill (made out of paper). We also gave daddy some golf clothes and a North Face jacket. They gave me new tennis shoes and a work out outfit. (is there a HINT in those presents). Daddy also surprised me with a new notebook in lime green!!!!

Christmas Eve

Yes I was one of the people out shopping on Christmas Eve (I think that is kinda fun) picking up little items and batteries. This year Jordan does not come to our house until Christmas Day so we hold off on opening presents at Pat and Ernie's until everyone is here. We all headed off to Christmas Eve Service at church around 4:30 (to get a seat- still sat on the 2nd row). This is something I love going to with my family. This year during the service the children went up front to listen to a story - Penny went!! She thought she was so big sitting up there with Patton and Callie. She sat really still, but loved looking around and waving at all of us during the story. After the church service we all headed to Nana and Papa's for Stephens famous pizzas. The kids got to go through their stockings and decorate cookies. Then it was time to head home and get everything ready for Santa's visit. We had a little sad moment telling "Larry" the elf bye. Sam and Penny left Santa some of their peanut butter cookies and headed to BED.

Christmas Cookies

It was always a tradition at my house that we made sugar and peanut butter cookies for Santa. I can still see that plastic Santa head that we filled every year. Well I can't say I am as good as my mom was (she made cookies from scratch) I just go buy the dough already made and all you have to do is ball and smash. Oh well the kids still enjoyed it.

At Pat's Christmas Eve night they also decorated cookies. Penny loved the sprinkles!

Run Rudolph Run

Shawn has really gotten into this running thing "again". They (David, Shawn, and Heather)

ran in the 5K Rudolph Run this past weekend in Huntsville.

The race took place right at Santa's Village- so while they ran Sam, Penny, Patton, Smith, and I enjoyed walking around the Village(I think you can guess that by the amount of pictures I took).

Now back to the race- David came in at 20 min.

Shawn came in at 23 mins.

(yeah Daddy - he came in 4th in his age group)

and Heather came in right after Shawn (not sure on time).

They all 3 said it was a fun race to run- well maybe next year I will be running it (ha as I eat my Debbie Cake and drink my Mt. Dew).
