What a Weekend

we have had. It started Friday with me taking a "Personal Day" to be with Sam at his schools field day. The weather was great (well it was kinda HOT) and the kids had a blast! It is so much fun to see Sam with his friends. I really enjoyed getting to do this with him. After field day was over I checked him out and we enjoyed a mommy-son lunch at McDonald's.

Taking a break to have a Popsicle with his friends.

Never a dull moment with these two best buddies - Sam and Mary B

Sam, Harrison, William, and Hayden ready to play Sharks and Minos.

The Whole Bunch! Taking a BREAK on this HOT field day.

Daddy had already left for Nashville (he is running his 2nd 1/2 marathon on Saturday) with Heather and David. As soon as Sam's t-ball game was over, Papa took Sam, Penny, Smith, and Patton home with him. They are all staying with Nana and Papa for the weekend!! And I headed to Nashville to meet up with Shawn and the others.

Saturday started off really early (like 4:00). We went down to the lobby to meet the other Decatur runners (Shelly, Lisa, Reece, Megan, and Patrick). The 10th annual Country Music Marathon and 1/2 Marathon had over 31,000 runners this year- and no telling how many spectators- it was very hard to get around Nashville. I watched them take off at the start line and then headed off to the finish line to catch up with Shawn. He came in right at 2 hours- with the temperatures reaching in the high 80's this was not a runners best friend.
Shawn is in the middle of photo- in black and yellow shirt!! This is as close to him as I could get with so many other people.

We then headed over to watch Heather, David, and Patrick come in on the marathon side. WOW what a hot day this turned out to be. I think I sat on the side walk for about 3 hours watching and cheering on all these people. The most memorable ones- a father pushing his son in a wheel chair, and fathers and mother grabbing their kids and running the rest of the way with them. David came in with a time of 4 hours 6 min. and Heather finished at 4 hours 26 minutes. Way to go- David, Heather, and Shawn!!

After a long, hot day we cleaned up and walked around Nashville then ate at Hard Rock Cafe. YUMMY!

Sunday we left Nashville early (Shawn had a tee time to get too). I took Sam, Penny, Smith, and Patton back to Nana's to SWIM that afternoon!! Yes I know the water had to be freezing but it never seemed to bother them. Penny was funny to watch slowing going down each step. Nana fixed them an ice cream cone- you would have thought this was a "perfect" summer day- although it is only April (what will the summer be like).

Penny went to...

on Saturday to help Gray Jackson celebrate her 4 year old birthday. Penny was so excited about going until we stopped by Nana's house to pick up her presents (Nana is the greatest wrapper in the world) and Penny lost it. She wanted the presents and could not understand that they were Gray's and not hers- She just kept saying "it's my birthday and presents". I was just about to give up and not go, when she finial grew tired of crying (for once) and calmed down.

We made it to the party and it was so entertaining watching Penny hang out with the "big girls and boys" and participating in the party activities. They sat in a circle at the beginning of party after choosing a bear and made and wish and picked a name - Penny chose Ballerina- I helped her shorted that to Bella. She payed such good attention to the lady - I could really tell she goes to school on a daily basis and has to listen. (as a mom you know she does not listen to you but it sure is nice to know she pays attention to others). After stuffing "Bella" she headed over to the the drying station to wash and comb off her bear- she even put a little makeup on her. We walked around and found some really cute Hello Kitty pj's and panties for Bella. Thank you Gray for allowing Penny to come to your party - It was so much FUN!

Goin Buggy

On Tuesday Sam stared in his kindergarten play "Goin Buggy". He was an "army" ant, along with 5 other boys. They sang and marched to the song "The Ants Go Marching". It was so cute to see all the kids dressed as different bugs.LadybugsButterfliesCrickets

They preformed the play on Tuesday morning at 9:00- Nana, Papa, and Mrs. Coon came that morning to watch. That night Daddy, Penny, Christopher, and Ashley came to see him. I enjoyed watching both performances along with having lunch with him that day at school. There is a sad side to this - I know that kindergarten is coming to an end and he is about to be a 1st grader.

Sam's part: For years we've been stomped, trampled, and sprayed.

Easter Day

What a wonderful day it has been from start to end. We started this morning bright and early to see what the Easter bunny had left- Jordan (Vera Bradley bag, Itune certificate, jewelry to match her dress) Sam(Wii game, Tech Deck, paint and paintbrushes, pjs) Penny(lots of panties-since we don't need diapers anymore, Dora coloring book, colors, water Barbie doll, princess pjs).

We dressed in our new Easter clothes and headed off to a wonderful church service. One of my favorite parts of Easter Sunday is our "living cross". I look forward every year to seeing this- and was excited that we had a few flowers blooming in our yard that we could take and put on the cross.

Several pictures after church-

Soon headed to the country club for lunch with the "Whole" family.

Then our "cousin" egg hunt was held at Michelle and Stephens this year- the kids could not wait to see what Nana and Papa's Easter baskets had in them.
