Sam, Harrison, William, and Hayden ready to play Sharks and Minos.
Daddy had already left for Nashville (he is running his 2nd 1/2 marathon on Saturday) with Heather and David. As soon as Sam's t-ball game was over,
Papa took Sam, Penny, Smith, and Patton home with him. They are all staying with Nana and Papa for the weekend!! And I headed to Nashville to meet up with Shawn and the others.
Saturday started off really early (like 4:00). We went down to the lobby to meet the other Decatur runners (Shelly, Lisa, Reece, Megan, and Patrick).
The 10th annual Country Music Marathon and 1/2 Marathon
had over 31,000 runners this year- and no telling how many spectators- it was very hard to get around Nashville. I watched them take off at the start line
and then headed off to the finish line to catch up with Shawn. He came in right at 2 hours- with the temperatures reaching in the high 80's this was not a runners best friend.
Shawn is in the middle of photo- in black and yellow shirt!! This is as close to him as I could get with so many other people. We then headed over to watch Heather, David, and Patrick come in on the marathon side. WOW what a hot day this turned out to be. I think I sat on the side walk for about 3 hours watching and cheering on all these people. The most memorable ones- a father pushing his son in a wheel chair, and fathers and mother grabbing their kids and running the rest of the way with them.
David came in with a time of 4 hours 6 min. and
Heather finished at 4 hours 26 minutes.
Way to go- David, Heather, and Shawn!!
After a long, hot day we cleaned up and walked around Nashville then ate at Hard Rock Cafe. YUMMY!
Sunday we left Nashville early (Shawn had a tee time to get too). I took Sam, Penny, Smith, and Patton back to Nana's to SWIM that afternoon!! Yes I know the water had to be freezing but it never seemed to bother them.
Penny was funny to watch slowing going down each step.
Nana fixed them an ice cream cone-
you would have thought this was a "perfect" summer day- although it is only April (what will the summer be like).
