Last Day of School

On May 27th was the last day of 1st grade - they celebrated ALL day long. I brought cookie cake for Sam's upcoming birthday - Miss Ducker had to give him a birthday spanking (she gave him a tissue cause she told him it was really going to hurt!!!)

and enjoyed a picnic with the whole 1st grade.

What a wonderful end to a wonderful school year.




Penny ended her year with a Splash party (did not get any pictures of this). They had a great day- Thanks to her teachers for taking such good care of her.

It is hard to believe that she will be entering Pre-K next year.

Happy Birthday Sam!!!

Yes we have another birthday to celebrate in the month of May- Sam is turning 7 years-old today!!!! Wow that is hard to believe- What a joy he has brought to our lives!!!



He is such a funny, smart kid. He is always telling us "crazy" facts. He loves to watch Biggest Loser and American Idol (with his daddy). He tells his daddy they are "Partners".

He loves to dance, sing, and to play all kinds of sports. Sam is one great kid-

Field Day

The last week of school was jammed packed of lots of Fun, School, and Friends. On Monday Benjamin Davis and Leon Sheffield had Field Day. It was a traditional field day with sack races,

50 yard dash,

popcorn,

and tug-a-war!!!



I am still filling in for a 1st grade teacher so I had to combined teacher/mom. It was a very HOT and HUMID day. We finished up the day with a 2nd grade/teacher kick ball game. It was a great- Peace, Love, and Field Day!!!!

The last few weeks have been extremely busy for Sam- class play, Disney show, awards day, last ballgame, and the end-of-the year ball party.

Lions at Lunchtime was the class play that Ducker and Propst put on. This was a story based on the reading seris: The Magic Treehouse.

Sam's part was a narrator- he was incharge of telling animal facts. This play was great, they did a wonderful job.









Disney Showcase was a production put on by the Fine Arts Department. The classes at Ben Davis have been studying everything about "Disney". They have asked and found lots of intertesting facts about the man that started it all. (My most interesting fact was that Walt Disney's favorite character was not Mickey but Goofy.)








Awards day was held on May 17th. Sam received several awards.

I was very proud when he was honored with the Principal's Award for having all A's all year long (please let this continue).

He also was presented with the Lt. Governor's physical fitness award

and Drama award in the cafeteria. They then went to Miss Ducker's classroom for more personal awards.


He received an award for his 25 points in AR (this is where he signed the jeans), Social Studies Award, Spelling Award, and the Balance Award- Miss Ducker refers to him as a well- balanced student and reader.


At one of the last games Sam had a great game in the field- which lead to him getting his 2nd game ball!!!



After our last game, we meet the team at coach Blair's house for a cookout and swim. The kids loved the pool and running around together.

They even got the coaches in the pool- even though they really were not planning on a swim. What a great ending to a fun, learning year of Minor B baseball.

Penny's Birthday (May 10th)

We celebrated Penny's birthday on Sunday - but she has been counting to this day- Monday, May 10th. She woke up telling me she was 4.



We walked into the kitchen to find a note from daddy-





and a bag of presents.




(inside the basket she found: sheets, ballet t-shirt, ballet outfit, Princess, and the Frog movie, nail polish, and towel)


She could not wait to put on her new shirt from Tara, and head to celebrate with her friends at school.





Before we reached school we stopped off at our new donut store, K-Donuts (YUMMY) and picked up several dozen donut holes for her special day.

That night (we were suppose to have a ballgame- but due to weather it was cancelled) we took her to eat at "Mexico"- She was so happy that Callie got to go with us.

Daddy thought she would love being sung to-BOY were we wrong. She totally freak-out when they put on the hat.





**As I was tucking her in- she said "when I turn 5 I not wear that Mexico hat"HAHA.

Mother's Day/Birthday Celebration

Boy do I love spending the day with these two special kids. (on mother's day or not)


The kids and daddy did a great job on Mother's Day gifts:

When we completed mother's day festivities we changed tunes- Celebrating Penny's upcoming 4 year old birthday. I had gotten cupcakes to enjoy with the family.
