Along with swimming lessons last week both kids had their yearly check-up with Dr. Palmer. I had to keep reassuring Sam that there would be no shots for him- and well we both knew what Penny was in for. This was her year of SHOTS!!

Swimming Lessons

Last week Penny started swimming lesson with Mrs. Leigh.
swim lessons 030
She was really excited on Monday - she kicked,
swim lessons 022
blew bubbles, and jumped off the side.
swim lessons 024
Everything was going perfect she was having a great time - at the end of the lesson Mrs. Leigh allowed them to go off the slide and the diving board. So Penny was really feeling good about herself so down the slide she went....
swim lessons 032
Mrs. Leigh caught her just like she told her she would BUT Penny went under the water a little more than she liked
swim lessons 033
can we say swimming lessons just turned NOT FUN!!

The rest of the week became a cry, beg, please don't make me go to swimming lesson - would be what she asked everyday after that. I could not believe my ears, one of my children crying at swimming lessons.

Although, I made her continue the lessons trying to bribe her with money, and trips to Target- Nothing worked. Friday she finial did a little better-(not as much crying). I think it was just cause she knew it was about to be OVER!!

Basketball Camp

Sam and Smith had the opportunity to attend the Decatur Basketball Camp this summer. They learned ball handling skills, played hot shot, drills, and lots of listening skills. They had Coach Boy (he is the Head Coach for DHS girls) as their instructor. He had several of his players as his helpers- the boys LOVED that!!

Say YES to VBS!!

Our church had Vacation Bible School all last week, the theme was Saddle Ridge Ranch (our church was decorated all over with a western feel).
VBS 001

We learned lot of songs that went hand in hand with our bible verses,
VBS and basketball camp 003
stories about missionaries serving in the United States and in Africa,
VBS and basketball camp 010

the ABC's of becoming a Christian, and always a favorite of the kids snack/recess and arts/craft time. Sam loved every minute of this week with his cousins and friends- I think Penny really liked it too.

Our Sanctuary time was the highlight - that is where we sang our VBS songs altogether; Sam's favorite in order:
1. Tumbleweed
2. Saddle Ridge Ranch
3. God Cares
4. Say Yes to VBS (this would be mine and Penny's #1 pick)
5. I Know what I am Going to Do

On Thursday night we had a special VBS night - The Christian Cowboy came to share his wonderful message and wow the crowd with his "cowboy" tricks.
VBS and basketball camp 023
While he was here he was going to attempt to break the Guinness Book World Record for holding the longest pole on his chin for the longest amount of time (58 inches long for longer than 11 seconds).

YES - he did it!!!

VBS was a great success -

Jordan Turns 14

Jordan came to our house for Penny's dance recital but we could not take the chance to celebrate her 14th birthday. We had her "family" party at Nana and Papa's house on Sunday afternoon.

All the kids enjoyed swimming, pizza, and homemade ice cream and cupcakes. I could not resist the cupcakes from Corner Bakery again.

Jordan is one 14 year old that is about the hardest person to buy for - she NEVER knows what she wants. So we decided to give her a gift certificate to Bridge Street. Hope she has fun with that.

All on a Golden Afternoon...

Penny has been taking ballet since January with a great teacher, Mrs. Melissa. They have been working hard for the last several months (who are we kidding they have been working on this since Jan.) to learn a routine that would be preformed on stage. Penny's most favorite day was when they got to pick up their uniforms- Penny was so proud of her Pink Flower.

On Thursday, June 3rd Penny had ballet pictures with her whole class- what a precious site to see a class full of Flowers. This was the first time Penny had put her complete outfit on -make-up, hair and all.

Friday, June 4th - she had her practice at The Princess (where the recital takes place). This was a perfect time to snap close up pictures while they were preforming on stage.

Saturday, June 5th- was the DAY!!

Penny was so happy that her "Big" sister got to come and watch her dance- along with Daddy, Sam, Patton, Nana, and Papa.

It was so hard for her to calm down and rest that day (no nap). I think every hour she would ask, "Mommy is it time to put on my make-up for my recital?" Finial it was time - we put on her make-up, bunned up her hair, and put on her sweet costume. We had to be there around 5:00 to save seats- she was so excitied - she was dancing around being so silly.

She had so much fun- her class did a wonderful job!!! (funny thing happened- the girls were suppose to join hands and go in a circle and Penny was the leader of the circle - she could not grab the hand of the other little girl's hand and a couple of girls fell trying to go in the circle)Although Penny never stopped SMILING through it all. She is already looking forward to next years ballet class.

Memorial Day - Balloons/Cotton Row

Along with going to the Atlanta Braves game during Memorial Day weekend we also could not miss the hot air balloons at Point Mallard. On Saturday morning we managed to get everyone up and out the door in time - only to find out that the weather was not cooperating for the balloons to fly. That sure did not stop us from enjoying the fun of watching them blow up.
