Wow what a week!

Starting last Monday, I had to attend AMSTI (hands on math and science). The kids had a babysitter come to our house for the first time (Amanda- Penny's teacher at school). I was not sure how that was going to workout, but it was GREAT. Sam loved her and got mad everytime daddy got home and she had to leave. They have played the Wii for hours! Along with me attending this workshop it is still summer and I want to make the most of it with my kids. On Thursday, after getting home we threw on our bathing suits and heading out to Point Mallard for a couple of hours- our cousins and Big sister was already there. Penny and Sam had a great time. Sam jumped off the high dive. (Missed taking that picture my camera battery went dead) Penny had no fear in the wave pool.

Got home from Pt. Mallard to give kids a bath and before I could get Penny undressed she decided to go on and get in. Thank you Penny for being a great helper!ha

There are very few things that Shawn really looks forward too- this is one of those weekends. Member-Guest is a golf tournament that Shawn plays in every year with his best friend Bert. It is always a fun weekend. I took the kids up to the club to swim on Saturday while Daddy and Bert played there 2nd and 3rd match. (won/lost) Penny played with Mary Reece's stroller the whole time we were at the pool. Sam took his cousin Smith and they played with Banks.

Sunday is my favorite time to come and ride around and watch the shoot out. This was not Shawn and Berts year- they only lost one match, but was to far behind to catch up. Our friend Mr. Scott and his partner Ken got in the shoot out so that gave us someone to root for. (Had to get on to Sam and Smith for Booing the other teams.) Great week/weekend. I have another week of AMSTI- Sam is glad he gets to be with Amanda some more.

Fun at the Beach!

Wow what an exciting week this has been, can't believe that it is already Thursday (one beach day left). The kids have had so much fun from just hanging with each other riding bikes and going to the ice cream shop BY THEMSELVES, to playing at the pool and the beach, to our 4th annual talent show- It is a great place to bring a family. Thought I would post some of my favorite pictures of our trip.
Cousin Fun- Jordan and Callie do everything together. They get on their bikes first thing in the morning and go from one shop to another.

Talent show fun- Callie, Jordan, and Penny did a dance to the chipmunks. Penny was so funny trying to copy everything the two girls were doing. She did a pretty good job of it!!

Smith Vaction Cont.

Our Early Birds:First thing this morning (7:00am) Smith and Sam wanted to take a swim!!

Monday at Seaside, (Shawn, Ernie, Stephen, and Patrick got up and went off to Shark's Tooth to play golf, Shawn shot 79). The rest of us headed to the beach. Penny hated the sand last year, and I was hoping that, that would not be the case this year. Nana rented chairs for us and the kids started working on their sand castles as quick as we got there. Penny sat in the chair screaming YUCK!! not liking the sand touching her. After 3 hours Penny finial got out of my lap and sat in the sand playing with her sand bucket that Aunt Hea gave her for her birthday. When Daddy got home from playing golf, Penny and Sam took a really long nap (thanks, cause I got to look at everyone's blogs). Tonight, we all went out WITHOUT kids (nana and papa kept them)and ate at the Red Bar. So yummy! Bye till I blog again (which will be tomorrow, cause I know I can't stay off the computer that long).

Smith Vaction - Seaside

Packed and ready to head to the beach!!!!

This is our own pool out behind our house. It is really nice because the kids can get in as early or late as they want.

This is my house (Shawn, Cheryl and Penny) it sits behind the pool and beside the main house.

This is the front of the main house (Seaforever). It is a cozy yellow house that has 3 floors.

Every year in June we (the whole Smith gang-15) come to Destin for summer vacation. This year we decide to try something new, Seaside. Our house is beautiful. Day 1: Sunday we went to the pool and hung out at the house all afternoon . Penny loved the baby pool and before we left she was jumping in the water to Stephen. (I think we all took about a 3 hour nap after we got back from the pool). Sam went to the ocean with Papa and Smith, when he got in the ocean he asked Papa WHY? is there salt in the ocean and WHO? put it there. Papa told him" God" and he said "well that is crazy". We ended the night with Stephen grilling out on our 3rd floor grill. It was delicious.

Rock Chalk Jayhawks!!!

I can not believe that the season has already come to an end. It seems like just yesterday Sam was so excited that he was going to be on his cousin, Smith's team. This has been a great season (only one lost- to Texas Tech.). Sam has had so much fun. We made it to the city tournament this week beating two teams which put us in the championship game tonight with Texas Tech. Daddy helped in the dug out this week. He had so much fun that when we got to the finial game and Stratton came back from the beach Daddy still wanted to be in their with the team. I don't think I have ever seen him jump up and down so much (other than at Alabama games).Sam had a home run- not really but that is what he calls it, cause Coach David makes him run all the way around the bases(9th batter). Second time up he got a double!!! Way to go Sam. What a tough game, both teams are so good. Although, the Jayhawks pulled it off and beat Texas Tech. We are the City Champs inT-Ball!! Rock Chalk Jayhawks!!!

Swimming Lessons

Sam took swimming lesson this week with Mrs. Leigh. She is really good with him. She gets him to do things that he would never do with me. Sam has always loved the water, he is my fish. She taught him how to freestyle and today (which I forgot my camera) got him to dive, well it looked more like a belly flop! Sam you did a great job this week. Can't wait to practice what you have learned next week at the beach.

Jordan is here for the month of June!!!

Every summer Jordan gets to come spend 4 weeks at our house. This year she decided to come the whole month of June. It is so nice when she is here -Penny loves her and she is good with Penny (sometimes I forget that Penny is even here )!! She wants everyone to know that she is good with kids and would LOVE to earn money for the summer!!!! The day before she came to our house she turned 12 (june 4). We are going to celebrate her birthday when we get to the beach next week but we had her presents ready and as soon as she walked in Penny ran to her to open them. At age 12, well this is a very hard age to buy for, NO toys because we are not a baby anymore and we don't just want clothes. We bought her a "J" necklace, cute pj's, bathing suit, cover-up , and a trip to the Vera Bradley store when we get to Seaside. Happy Birthday Jordan and glad you are here for the summer!!!

Pretty Penny

Thank you Callie for giving Penny all your Disney dress up clothes. She thought she was sooooo special trying them on. We had to put one on after another. Some are so big that they did not even come close to fitting her, but that did not stop Penny.
Penny wearing Cinderella's dress. She was spinning around and around in this dress.
Penny was having so much fun with the dress up clothes that Sam had to go and put on his Spider Man costume.
