Thanksgiving in Mentone,AL

This week the kids have been out of school for the whole week to celebrate Thanksgiving. On Wednesday our family along with Papa, Nana, and the Puryear Family (the Coon Family was in NYC) went to Mentone, AL for a few days (thanks to one of Michelle's friends). The cabin was a real "log cabin" which meant COLD. Sure glad we had plenty of firewood (Shawn loves making fires).

Halftime and Leaves

During halftime of the AL/LSU game the kids decided to go outside and have there own game.

The Leaves are Falling Down So Try and Catch One... (This is one of Penny's favorite songs from preschool). The leaves are really started to fall around here - faster than we can rack them up. So I decided to surprise Sam from school with a "pile" of leaves. They were so funny running
and jumping in the LEAVES.

Birthday Fun

It seems if we get one invitation for a birthday we get invited to three. Last Sunday Sam had two birthday parties to attend and Penny had one this past week on Thursday. Here are the highlights from these fun parties.

Dress Your Door

Look what (Aunt) Michelle made for Penny to put in her room!!! It looks GREAT on her door!!!

If your interested in one of these take a look at her site Dress Your Door. These would make super Christmas presents.

Halloween Fun 09

After Shawn and I got home from Florence we picked up the kids from Nana and Papa's house and made our way home for a quick rest before the night time fun. Every year we go to the Coon's house in Pt. Mallard for the excitement. Mrs. Coon (better know as Poon) cooked her yummy Chicken Noodle Soup and Chili (and yes I had both!!)

This year we had lots of kids to enjoy Halloween: William, Sarah, Emily, and Put came this year to hang out with Sam, Penny, Smith, and Patton.

Patton works all month long to get his Poon and Pops yard ready for Halloween- Sam was so happy this year that I finally let him have a "scary" mask so he could join in on the fun of trying to scare the tricker - treaters.

Can you guess who is who????

Answer: Turner, Sam, Patton, William, and Smith

Look at our sweet princess..

Finally it was our turn to go around and fill our bags with candy. Every time Penny went to one house and came back she would look at me and say "let's go get MORE".

We ran into Callie (The King of Rock-n-Roll) while we were tricker-treating.

I think this was my favorite costume I saw this year!!

The girls were incharge of passing out the candy!!

While the boys scared everyone

Thank you Poon and Pop for having another Great Halloween!!!

After the Parties

we had all our bags packed - Sam and Penny were heading to Nana and Papa's for the night. While Shawn and I headed to Florence. He was running in with a few other of his running buddies.
We thought it would be much easier on us if we went the night before- which was really nice (since I could not tell you when we have done anything by our self). We picked up Shawn's packet and went to our hotel - then off for a nice dinner ALONE!!

Up bright and early the next morning- We made it to the Marriott around 6:30 ready for the day (hoping it is going to stop raining). I decided to run in the 5K while Shawn was doing his 1/2. The race started around 8 and about ten minutes after that my race was under way.(my race time- 28:46). I also won second place in my age group WOO HOOO!!! Yes I am very proud of my trophy!!

Shawn was hoping to have a PR (personal record) on running his 1/2- YEAH!! He did it in 1:49- that is super!!
