Sunday School Friends

This is my year to teach Sunday School, so when First Baptist had promotion Sunday I found out that I had the 2 year old class. (I have Penny with me- which is fun because I never see her interact with other kids) She was so excited to find out that her "buddy" Ross was in her class. They were in the same class at school last year and became the best of friends. Today they had fun together smiling for the camera. sweet picture of two friends

T - T- T Teddy Bear

Sam's class has been studying the letter T this week. So we have had to think of things that make the T sound- toothbrush, Tiger Woods, tee. Sam chose a tiger that flips to put in his mystery sack on Wednesday. They also have painted T-shirts with a Teddy Bear on them and read a Tall book. Friday, was Teddy Bear Day. They all wore their shirts and brought their special bear. Sam said they did graphs and even measured them. (his bear was 19 cubes long). He had a fun day.

Every 3rd Saturday in August

we attend grave yard working (country talk) where both of my parents, and grandparents are buried. This is something I have been doing ever since I can remember. Now I bring my children and this gives me the opportunity to share stories about my childhood to them. Penny is named after my mom.

Kiddie Carnival Party Fun
Sam got invited to a birthday party at the Kiddie Carnival. For those of you that did not grow up in Athens -well you can not know how much every kid looked forward to the month of July when it opened. I would ride the swings and the train over and over and the little roller coaster oh it was my favorite ride! This is a summer memory that I will never forget. Now taking Sam and Penny was so fun- they loved it. Sam's favorite ride- swings and Penny's favorite ride- cars.

Tooth #2

Sam lost his second tooth this morning. We have been trying to get it out all week- Papa has worked on it and so have I- but it just was not budging. This morning it was hanging by one root and I tried but could not pull hard enough- Papa had already gone to work so Nana agreed to help us out. Nana pulled and realized that root was in there tight. She told Sam to just scream! and POP it was out!!!!! Hope the tooth fairy comes to visit.

Loving Kindergarten

Sam has been a kindergartner for a week now, and LOVES it. I have called him everyday after leaving school and I wished I could record the excitement in his voice. The first day after daddy picked him up he told me " Mrs. Hand is the BEST teacher in the world"! The second day he told me"today was even better".

He was so excited the day he earned his first chip for good behavior. (I think he has 4 or 5 now).

He loves the lunchroom- and wants to buy a milk everyday.

His new buddy is William and he talks none stop about Mary Bradford. He is off to a wonderful, kindergarten year.

1st Day of Kindergarten

It is so hard to believe that this day has come. All morning, getting ready for school(I teach 3rd grade at another school in the system), I just thought about him growing up right in front of my eyes.

Heading off to see his classroom and meet his teacher.
Eastwood has been renovated this summer and so they did not get to have their traditional meet and greet before the first day of school. This did not seem to bother him- he was walking in like he knew exactly where he was going. Mrs. Greer(principal) greeted him at the door with a great big smile! I knew this was going to be a great day!

Mrs. Hand and Sam on the first day of school.

Mrs. Hand, met us at the door with a list of instruction. 1. find your seat 2. unpack your backpack 3. give me any papers that you have 4. put lunchbox in certain spot 5. begin to color sheet at your desk. She made him feel very comfortable in her classroom. I quickly knew it was time for me to go so I snapped a few pictures, hugged him goodbye, and wipe a few tears from my eyes. Then I was off to meet my students at my school.
I love you Sam!!

Kindergarten was released at 12:00 today- Shawn picked him up. I had to call and find out how things went. I wished I could have recorded him- He was shouting in the phone how much Mrs. Hand was the best teacher EVER!! and the Lunchroom was GREAT!!! He had so much fun and could not wait to go back tomorrow.

Penny's first day of 2year old class

Penny started 2 year old school today at FBC. Her teachers are Mrs. Mary and Mrs. Catherine, they seem very nice. She was already to go this morning with her new sleeping bag that Nana bought her from Robin's Nest. Thank you Nana!!! She has to rest on the floor- no more baby beds. She walked in all big- sat down in her assigned seat and had her apple juice, looked at me and said, "Bye mommy- love you". No tears!!

A few hours later my cell phone rang, it was daycare (oh no I thought are we already sick on the first day of school- so our luck) calling to tell me that Penny was running in the gym and fell on her face. She bit her tongue pretty bad- they took her to the front desk where Mrs. Mandy gave her a Popsicle! She is one tough girl.

Mrs. Mary said she had a great first day!

After the fun morning we had it was back to Nana's to get Penny- and then the count down to Smith's birthday was on! He was having a Bike Parade Party!!! You bring your bike, wash it, decorate it, and then ride it in the parade up the street!! (cute and easy party)

Penny and Put had lots of fun washing Put's bike.

Well if you know anything about Penny - she likes to take things that don't belong to her. Here she is at it again, with Put's bike.

I worked hard on decorate his bike!! I know it is very small he has not learned how to ride real well (even with training wheels) . He told me before the parade that if he was about to go down a hill- he thinks he will just get off and walk it down.

Riding in the Birthday Parade!! Happy Birthday Smith!!
