Living Water 5K

Shawn is really getting into the "run" of things- with Heather and David. They ran the Living Water 5K today in Decatur (that is 3 miles). They all did a great job. (David got 2nd place, Heather 2nd place, and or Daddy got 3rd place-he ran it in about 24 min.!!!!) Heather and Shawn getting ready for the race.

Putting up our Christmas Tree

Every year during Thanksgiving holiday break we put up our Christmas tree. This year we worked on our tree right after Thanksgiving lunch. Jordan, Sam, and Penny put all the ornaments on the tree while I got them out of the box- they did great job!! The tree looks wonderful!

Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving started as always with the Macy's parade on TV at our house. Shawn and Sam had to get the turkey ready for frying - so they gave the turkey a shot as Sam called it (with the good stuff). Shawn went over to Pat and Ernie's to start frying the turkey around 11- with David. We had lots of "good" food (even a turkey cake from Publix) !! Everyone was there and we are so blessed that Papa is feeling so good. It was an extra special thanksgiving (lots to be thankful for).

This was us trying to get Christmas card pictures with 7 grandkids

Nothing better than a nap after a big lunch !!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

I Love to get Email

I checked my email this afternoon and had 72 emails- but one was from a sweet friend (Amy)that had taken Sam's picture at school for me. On Friday, they had a Thanksgiving feast and old fashion day in their kindergarten class. Sam dressed as an Indian- he said they had a really fun day. Thank you Amy for the picture!!

Here is my one little Indian

Dentist Day

Today was our visit to the dentist (Doc. Pat). Moms can not go back with their kids- Penny was such a big girl going back- and Sam was the Big Brother that was protecting her. They both did great NO CAVITIES!!!It is always fun to see them come out with their balloon and new tooth brush.

Weekend Visit

After the race on Saturday -the kids and I headed to Glencoe to visit my Aunt Peggy. (my mom's sister). We had a great visit and the kids had fun playing with cousins they don't play with often.

Dam-Bridge Race

Our daddy has been running since this summer- and his sister (Heather) finial talked him into running his 1st race. He ran in high school on the cross country team (1988 won the state championship). He was really excited about doing this- they ran the 10K Dam-Bridge Race in Florence. Jordan, Sam, Penny, and I were there to cheer him on at the finish line (it was really cold). He did great, he ran it in less than an hour. (55.59 min. ). Yea Daddy!!

Bundled Up For School

I do believe it is time to pull out the winter coats. I forget from year to year how hard it is to bundle up the kids - get in the car - and buckle with a coat on. Yuck so not fun!!! (mostly with Penny)

Thought this was a really cute picture on the kids- for the first time I total agree that they look alike.

Halloween Activities- Indian Jones and a Princess Fairy

(As I am sitting in the hospital waiting my turn to see papa -found that my computer works!!!!- thank goodness for blogs and facebook) I was thinking how fast October has gone- Sam has been looking forward to Halloween all month. Now it is over (Christmas in 7 weeks).

We started last week off with Sam's school Fall Frenzy. I had to work our class game (Candy land). Sam and I had so much fun- he dressed up in his Indian Jones costume. He was very excited when he won a Hersey's candy bar.

Cute pictures of Sam and his friends Mary B. and Dakota

I WON!!!

Friday night we headed to the Coon's, for food and tricker-treating. Mrs. Coon always cooks chili, chicken noodle soup, and my favorite Chicken Salad. It was sad not having Nana and Papa with us this year. Shawn and I walked around the circle with the kids - Penny got the hang of saying Tricker-Treat and getting candy. She was sweet saying Thank you. Sam had a great time. I think they have more fun at the Coon's passing out candy and watching David scare the kids than going out and getting candy for themselves. (Thank you Coon's for a fun night). We headed home early that night to pack and get ready to head to the hospital Saturday morning.
