Backyard Baseball- Cousin Style

I have always heard about playing baseball in the backyard with your friends from sun up to sun down (not something I ever did), but I know Shawn has talked about those days were the greatest of days. Well I think these kiddos would have done just that if we had of let them- they started out around 11 o'clock with a trip to the creek with Uncle David and then back to our house and before I realized they were in a heated battle of baseball.
Not sure who was on what team but they sure did have fun. There were even puddles of water that they found to some how slide in- Sam and Smith seemed to think they were "sexy" enough without their shirts. All five of them had mud on them somewhere (some had more mud than others). This was a great day with the cousins -

Thank You, Shawn

As you saw in my last post Shawn and I celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary. He has to be one of the most "best gift givers" I know. He always can surprise me - that morning he and Sam brought in this beautiful wrapped present- I opened it and found a NEW camera. I have been wanting a camera for a while but not knowing much about them I have been sticking with my old one, well know I have a Canon Power Shot SX10 IS. I LOVE it - I have been taking it everywhere I go trying to learn everything about it (yes even reading the manual). I just wished I was a good photographer. Here are some of my play around pictures.
Thank you, Shawn for my present !!!

March 25, 2000

9 years ago today Shawn and I said "I Do" at First Baptist Church in Decatur, in front of our family and friends. It is hard to believe all the things we have been through in these past 9 years (good and bad). Thank you Shawn for being a great husband, daddy, and my BEST friend!! I love you so much -

Thank you Jordan

Sam and Penny have been waiting all week long for Jordan to come home from the beach. She told them on the phone that she had bought them a present. She was coming on Saturday but due to all the traffic she was unable to come and spend the night. Sam was so upset, they have been really missing her lately. Her step-father dropped her off today for about an hour which made Sam and Penny SOOOOOOO happy. They gave her a quick hug but was really happy to see those two bags - she brought them really cute T-shirts from the beach-THANK YOU JORDAN!!

Sam, Jordan, and Penny had a little Wii Music play time (it was so funny to watch them playing those instruments) . The hour past way to fast for Penny - it is so hard for her to see Jordan leave.

Spring Break 09

What a great week this has been -
we started the week with this while Daddy was playing golf (Wow it was one of the best movies I have ever seen).

We did lots of this (much needed)

and several trips to Target and Wal-mart (what would we do with out these two store to entertain us). I even got a few closets cleaned out along the way.

Tuesday was Happy St. Patrick's Day - (yes we wore green so no one would pinch us)

On Wednesday we took a trip to the with family and friends. The weather was GREAT and the kids were wonderful (can not even remember anybody getting in trouble- well yes Penny did but for little stuff). This was Sam and Penny's first trip to the zoo.
Sam's favorite animals was the and I think Penny liked it all mostly the

train ride with Zoe

come here birdie Sam wants to hold you (not really)

what a sweet a picture of Put and Penny looking at the big bird

all the kids taking a time out for a quick picture

I just love this picture of Sam- he is looking at the monkeys swinging from side to side.

Sam, Smith, and Patton posing with the giraffes

Mommy and her two kiddos

Penny's prize - zebra puppet

Sam's prize - stuffed gorilla

Zoo + No Nap = falling asleep before 8:00 on her floor (and yes she is wearing Santa pjs)

Thursday was a day of fun at HOME- the kids went outside and played with paint. Yes it was a mess - I found myself giving the kids a bath at 2 o'clock in the afternoon.

(yuck what a mess- I know why I am not an art teacher)

Friday we went shoe shopping and had lunch at Burger King.
Thank goodness the weather was great this week YEAH for Spring Break .... (now the count down is on for school to be OUT!!!!)

What a difference a week can make

Just one week ago Sam and Penny were putting on their coats, gloves, and boggin to go outside and play in the snow. Now this weekend short sleeve shirts and flip flops were all we needed to wear while we played outside ALL weekend long.

Brave Penny

This morning we woke up like most mornings - Penny hollering MOM- I go in her room and the first thing she asks for is a waffle, but instead of being able to make that waffle (in the toaster) I had to tell her no -we have to wait till you get your ears fixed. This was a little upsetting to her cause well she is use to getting things her "way". She was not allowed to eat this morning because we where headed to the surgery center to put a tube in her right ear (3rd time) and take out her adenoids. We dropped Sam off with Nana and got to the surgery center at 7:00 only to wait, wait, and wait.Check out my cute green hospital gown.
She did really well waiting the hour and a half before they took her back. We played with her new, pink puppy (Nana gave her), we combed Dora's hair, she took lots of pictures with my camera, but my favorite part was just when she sat in my lap. Around 8:30 Dr. Light and his nurse came and got her - she just went with the nurse without saying a word- no crying no nothing- not even a look back which makes it so much easier for me. Within 30 minutes Dr. Light was out telling me how well she did. He was laughing about how "big" her tonsils are and that as soon as she reaches 40 lbs. that those will come out (4o lbs. have you seen Penny lately, it might be 5th grade before she reaches 40 lbs- we are 2 months away from being 3 and we only weigh 24 lbs. with a wet diaper and clothes on).

They brought her back out to me around 9:15 - she was not crying but very wide eyed and seemed very scared -nurse told me as soon as she opened her eyes that she asked for "her mommy". It seemed like no time at all that she was asking for her pop tart that we brought with us from home. She was very groggy but would not turn lose of it, she would take a bit and then fall back asleep. She did this for about 30 minutes until the nurse came in to take out her IV. She had not even noticed that on her hand- her eyes got really big when the nurse started taking all that tape off -OUCH! We said "Penny has a boo-boo just like Papa". When we left the surgery center we headed home and she slept pretty much the whole day. She did great.

Snow in March

Yes it is the first day of March and this is what we did this morning- played in the snow. It was not a lot(a good dusting) but enough for the kids to get out and experience making and throwing snowballs. Sam would just say this is the best snow ever!! Penny was not really sure she liked it on her hands. Sam made this really BIG snowball and begged to keep it- yes like everyone else out there we now have a snowball in our freezer. Before lunch the snow had all melted away but it sure was fun while it lasted.
