Parachute Fun

Sam has come home everyday from school telling all the great things he is doing in class. But on this day he got to bring something home they had built- a parachute. We tried over and over to get a picture of it flying .

He also has come home most days having to tell us crazy (but true) stories that Miss. Ducker's partner teacher Mrs. Propst tells- there has been a story about two squirrels, an alligator, and a snake. We have really enjoyed hearing him tell these - and have gotten a good laugh!!

Thank You PUT

for inviting our family to your fun start of school blast off party at the Kiddie Carnival. Sam and Penny loved riding those kiddie rides and even Jordan had fun riding the one and only ride - the swings!!

Bible Verse of the Week

This week at Penny's school they started with the letter "A"- they had to bring in pictures of things that started with that letter. Penny found a picture of an apple. They also are learning a bible verse a week that goes along with the letter of the week. I was shocked that they were going to have to learn this and I thought no way can she do it. Well to my surprise she learned it by Monday and recieved her sticker - her teachers told me that she has helped everyone else (funny story from her teachers: yesterday Penny was using the potty and two girls were trying for their sticker and all of the sudden behind closed door they heard Penny yelling what comes next in the verse).

wished we could follow this bible verse a little better at our house

Every Third Saturday in August

we take a trip out to where I grew up. We have graveyard working where my parents, my sister, and my grandparents are buried. I grew up going to this -never imaging that at age 34 that for the last 15 years that I would come to this place and put flowers on my parents grave- but I do and will continue for as long as I am able. It is the most beautiful, peaceful place I have ever been- plenty of shade and on a hill that know matter how hot it is there is always a nice breeze blowing. This also gives me an opportunity to tell Sam and Penny about there grandparents (Jim and Penny)and show them where there mommy grew up.

After several hours at the cemetery we were ready for lunch. My grandmother Jean and grandaddy James Wright ran a fast food restaurant which was the best place to eat in those parts for over 27 years. I took Sam and Penny to Christo's for lunch- Sam had a chicken sandwich and Penny had a hot dog- but there was only one choice for me a Cheeseburger. What great memories for me and a wonderful chance for me to share part of my life to both of my children.

Sam rode a

to school for the first time this morning. He is so excited about doing this from now on (not sure how I am feeling about it).

All afternoon I just worried - what if he gets on the wrong bus coming home. The bus parked and all the kids started unloading- Sam was the last one off- can you say heart failure! When he got off the bus he had such a big smile on his face, like he had accomplished something big!!

First Day of First Grade

Sam was so excited about going to school on Monday. If only everyday was as easy to get him out of bed and dressed as on this day (life would be great). We dropped off Penny and headed on to his new school for the year Benjamin Davis. As we were driving Sam told me he was a little nervous (if he only knew HOW nervous his mommy was). Then we parked to go in - he looked at me and said" You are not going in with me I'm in 1st grade" ha you think that stopped me. He was really not happy when I opened the front door to get my camera- I told him only once will you start first grade and I am going to be there -sorry!
We went to his room, Miss. Ducker was there greeting us all and showing all the first graders where to put their backpacks and lunch boxes. It was so fun to watch him walk around his new classroom. I knew I had to leave but it was so hard - wished I could have stayed at the door all day and
just watched him.

After dropping both kids off at school, it was a lot different for me than ever before. Instead of going back to school and being a teacher I came home and was a stay at home mom- I cleaned the house, sat out by the pool, enjoyed computer time, and watched the clock till it was time for me to go and pick them up- Sam had a GREAT day and can not wait to go back again!!

First trip to Ben Davis

Sam loaded all his supplies up to take them to his new 1st grade class. We went in to his classroom (Miss. Ducker) and he was really happy to see that his desk (yes I said desk - he thought that was the coolest thing he had ever seen ) was pushed right in front of Hudson's. While I filled out all the paper work it gave him time to explore his new room. Miss. Ducker explained all her rules and expectations of the year- It is going to be a good year!

Way to go Sambo!

Every year before school starts we go and buy new tennis shoes for Sam. Sam has had Velcro shoes for the last couple of years, but this year was a little different-the shoes he picked tie. PROBLEM: Sam can not tie shoes. So heading into first grade I am not having his teacher to deal with Sam's shoes all day long. We sat down Wednesday morning and I taught him how to tie his shoes. It only took him a few tries and then he had it!! Way to go SAM BO-

step 1. tie in a knot

step 2. loop and tuck

step 3. grap the bows and pull

step 4. YEAH you have now tied your shoe!!
