Baseball Practice

Yes it is time already to start practicing for fall ball- so last Saturday the temps. were reaching the 100 degree mark. We got a call for Sam to bring a towel to practice. What in the world could they need a towel for???? For the first 30 minutes they did their normal practice- then came the FUN part....

Batting practice (with water-balloons)

working on sliding (with a slip-n-slide)

I don't know who had more fun the coaches, boys, or the parents (I did LOVE watching)

Football/Cheerleader Camp

Last week Sam and Penny had the opportunity to attend DHS football/cheerleader camp. It was a great experience for them both.

Sam's group went outside and worked on football skills. They had to endure the HOT weather- (with plenty of water breaks) but no matter how hot it got Sam could not have had any more fun.

Penny's cheer group learned cheers, tumbled, and a really cute dance to some song about ice cream ice creamy CAKE.... I loved watching her face each time that song was played. She thought she was pretty special wearing her "cheerleader" outfit.

Beach Trip

For the last few years we have taken a "family" beach trip to Destin, FL.
beach 10 124

This year the Coon family joined in on the fun.

The kids had a ball together and the adults enjoyed the company. We stayed at Hidden Dunes in a cottage type house
beach 10 012
right out by the pool. I guess I could say it was our own pool- maybe due to all the oil talk it has really scared people away. Well, whatever it maybe there were not a whole lot of people - which turned out good for us (Big pool ALL to ourselves).

We also had lots of beach time (even saw the Gulf clean up crew doing their job???? which we were total not sure what that job was??? We saw NO signs of oil anywhere).

Sam, Patton, and Smith had plenty of time to ride LOTS of waves, dig holes,

and just hang out together.

Penny got really brave at the beach - she made her way into the ocean and jumped and splashed in the waves.

Always one of our favorite (well my all time favorite) things to do at the beach - EAT!! We made our way to Busters, Back Porch, Crab Trap, Joe's Crab Shack, and Reggae J's- what yummy food!!!!

Football/Groovy Paint Party

Sam had a full weekend of birthday parties-

On Saturday he was invited to Hudson's football party- they were to dress in their favorite team colors. Penny had to come so she could dress in her cheerleader uniform. The "blue/orange team" was way out numbered by the "red/white team" so they had to just split the teams to the red and yellow.

Sam was on the red flag team- he played so hard (even getting a few tries at Q-back). What a great idea for a party - they ended the party with a TEAM picture.

Sunday was Meredith's groovy paint party- on the invitation it said they could dress groovy or in tie-dye. Well Sam really took the "groovy" thing way out- He looked so good!!

They painted boxes,

ate cookie cake, and opened presents. This was a great time- I think he just enjoyed seeing all his school buddies as much as anything- Peace OUT!!

July 4th

In American on The 4th of July we think of Freedom, Food (cook-out), Family, and Fireworks. Well that was pretty much our day. That morning we went to church for a wonderful service full of singing and praise for our men and woman that help protect our country day in and day out...

Then we spent the afternoon into the night with family-

swimming, eating,

and shooting FIREWORKS!!! We started off at Nana and Papa's house with a few "simple" fireworks-

(Penny did not like all the LOUD noise from the fireworks so she went home with Callie while we went over to the Coon's for the Real Boom!!)

Heather and I sat and watched the "Big Boys" put on their firework show!!!

the kids enjoyed watching and screaming Happy 4th of JULY!!
