I Heart You/New Orleans

My heart belongs to....These two special kidos!!!

Valentine's day they got up to a special treat-

I even worked really hard on a sweet treat - I thought they turned out pretty cute!

We were looking forward to that afternoon cause our daddy came home from New Orleans- He ran his 3rd marathon (26.2 miles) with Heather and David. I did not make the trip but I did get post to let me know how they were doing... Shawn's time 4:20. Good Job Daddy!

More Snow

Yes I am blogging about yet another snow in Alabama- The kids have yet to go to school a full 8-3:00 week since we have been back from Christmas break. This week the weather man was calling for around 1-2 inches and sure enough that is about what we got. Although, what made us miss a full day of school was the sheet of ice that was under the snow. The snow sure didn't excite anyone in my house - the kids never even asked to go outside and play in it. Can you say we are so over the Snow this year!!!

Excitement at Ben Davis

The singing group Committed that recently won The Sing Off came to Sam's school!! They had an awesome message about practicing to get where you want to go!! Sam was really pumped about their visit (can't say I was not either). We managed a few pictures with them.

So much SNOW!!

The weather man called for snow/ice winter storm with up to 9 inches of snow (ha ha). When has the weatherman been right about something like that- but for fear of any snow/ice I went to the grocery store like the rest of city to buy milk (for cereal), bread (for sandwiches), diet mt. dew (for Shawn), and lots of snacks to live on. Sunday night schools started closing and we soon heard Decatur City was going to be closed (all I could think of is please let it be something in the morning). Soon Sunday night it started raining and quickly turned into snow- EXCITED!!! We had to slip on shoes and go outside to see first hand the snow coming down.

I also put my bowls out to catch snow (hopefully for snow cream). The snow was really coming down and sticking everywhere- think I was more excited now than the kids. I had the hardest time going to sleep that night.

Before going to bed I thought I would measure to see has much so far:

Waking up on Monday morning looking out the window was like looking out to a winter wonderland!!

I really could not believe how much snow we received- maybe the weatherman was right (9 inches). When I went out to take Bella to "potty"

the table I placed the snow bowls on had disappeared!!!

A few cars had tried driving down the road-

A picture of the front of our house- what a beautiful sight!!

We were all bundled up and spotted several kids down the street sledding - so we went and checked it out. Sam and Penny got a turn to speed down the hill- think they enjoyed it!!!

Then we loaded into the car and went to the Coon's to play and sled in the snow.

I think I was to blame for starting a hour snow ball fight!

We had a blast in the snow the first day and already knew there would be a day 2 (school has already been canceled for Tuesday). So we had to go home warm up and dry our clothes for the next day of snow. Smith came home with us and spent the night with Sam. Before I went to bed I went back out to measure just how much snow we had received- (yes it is around 9 inches)I think that is the most snow since around 1994.

Tuesday started again with bundling up - Sam and Smith started working on a fort and Penny and I started rolling out a snow"lady".

That was about all we could stand of the cold on Tuesday. Yes, it was fun but boy I think we have had enough. Unfortunately we had another snow day on Wednesday and two days of going in late on Thursday and Friday. The rain came in through the weekend and washed the snow all away.

New Years Eve

On the morning of new years eve the kids and I along with Nana, Papa, and Callie loaded up for a YUMMY breakfast with Mamaw (gravy and biscuits, country ham, bacon, and eggs). Sam was so happy to get "real" bacon , I think he ate around 12 pieces all by himself. We had a wonderful visit with her!
