Sam's choir did a beautiful job - they had to perform for two shows (this was a really long day)

The next Sunday, Penny's choir sang a few songs - this was the first time that Penny has been on stage to sing. She and the other 4-5 year olds did a wonderful job.

Larry the Elf

If you know anything about on Elf on the Shelf , you know they are helpful, mischievous little elves that come into your home around Thanksgiving to watch and listen to the children so they can report back to Santa. Well Larry (our elf) came on Thanksgiving Day - Sam and Penny looked for him all over the house and finally Sam noticed a note hanging on the mailbox. He went to check it out and sure enough Larry had in fact written the kids a note- Larry was very nervous about entering the house due to one new thing- Bella (our dog). Sam went back out to the mailbox and found Larry safe and warm - Sam assured him that Bella is nice and want eat him!!

Thanksgiving Week

For the last two years Decatur Schools have been off for the whole week of Thanksgiving- which is pretty nice. This allows us to get our house clean and ready to put up our Christmas decorations- Penny and Sam seemed to enjoy pulling out all of the ornaments and putting them on the tree.

We think our tree looks great!

We also enjoyed spending time with Jordan and the rest of the family (minus the Puryear's this year they were in AK) for Thanksgiving. The weather was great on Thanksgiving day for the men to fry the turkey, Papa to throw football,

and to enjoy all the wonderful food that Nana had worked so hard to fix. (All was so yummy!!)

The morning after Thanksgiving (Black Friday) Jordan, Heather, Barbara, and myself got up around 3:45am to fight the madness of a good deal (ha). We waited in the line at Target (in the pouring down rain)

for about 30 mins. just to get inside the store. (We went straight in, warmed up with Starbucks). Even though it seems crazy to do such a thing - we had lots of FUN!!

Thanksgiving Feast

After leaving Sam's play I went to Penny's Thanksgiving Feast at her school. She has been counting down the day till this feast (like counting down to your birthday). They came in where all the parents were sitting and presented the pledge, songs, and Bible verse- Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he his Good!

After the program we blessed the food by a sweet prayer from the children and enjoyed a feast of chicken, green beans, corn, mac. and cheese, rolls, and lots more yummy Thanksgiving food.

Plump and Perky Turkey

Sam's second grade play was Thursday- they preformed This is a humorous story of a town, Squawk Valley, that is having trouble finding a turkey for Thanksgiving- they had all fled for their lives. The town posted wanted posters for the next TOP Model Turkey..... and Pete the turkey(Sam)

stopped by to apply for the job. He told the Mayor," I am here to apply for the position, I strut plump and proud, I can hardly wait to model for this large and eager crowd!!"

The mayor HIRED him on the spot! The town was holding an art show where Pete was to judge all the turkey art (but really they were hoping to catch Pete for their turky dinner). BUT Pete out smarted the towns people and ran for cover - not before taking his modling fee (a oatmeal turkey from the art show). The play was precious!!
