Halloween Parties @ Ben Davis and Chruch Street

On Friday, I got to do the MOM thing- I got to go to Sam and Penny's parties for the first time ever!!! I started the day off by subbing 1/2 a day at a wonderful kindergarten class then off to Sam's school. His class had won a party from a local radio station and Purity milk (thanks to Logan). The radio station brought cookies and plenty of candy and Purity brought chocolate milk and goodie bags. The kids had a great time. They also dressed in book characters that day- Sam dressed as a baseball player (lucky Smith had a great baseball book we used). Miss. Ducker dressed as the book Duck on Bike. How cute is this!!!

Then I was off to Penny's party. They had lots of great fun while enjoying the movie The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.

Having a Hoot of a time

Saturday was the annual Hoot on Banks Street. We loaded up dressed in costumes heading to Banks Street for fun and practiced saying tricker-treat (it was so hard to pick just one piece of candy)We saw lots of Sam and Penny's friends from school. Jordan was even with us and loved looking in all the "cute" stores for Christmas ideas.

After all the fun we headed home and did lots of this the rest of the day.

CSA Fall Party

On Friday, Church Street Academy (where I teach and Penny goes to school) had there Fall Party for all the preschool children. I have never been to this with either one of the kids (always been teaching and never took off for something like this) but boy was I sad that I have never been - they had so much fun coming up to the gym and getting to bouncy jump, look for candy in hay, picking out pumpkins, face paint, and just enjoy running around with their friends. I loved ever minute of it and really was excited when Penny's class made it to the gym. She had so much fun doing EVERYTHING! All I could do was chase her with my camera and hope not to miss a thing.

"H" Week

Penny is already on the letter H this week in preschool.

On Monday it was CrAzY hAiR dAy. She was so happy to wear her hair in all those pony tails.

On Tuesday they had hat day. She had a hard time deciding which hat to wear. Sam helped her to decide on this one- it was his old golf hat.

On Wednesday they were having a hot dog and Hawaiian Punch party at lunch time.

Sunday afternoon

We went to the Pig and picked up these three items- Can you guess what we are making???

yes Penny is sticking her whole marshmallow in the fire-

Sam loved them - I think he ate 3 (and we did not even do a good job at melting the chocolate bar- we will do better next time) Jordan is coming this weekend think we hear the smores calling our name on Saturday.

This is what happens to your marshmallow when you put it into the fire way to long.

Liz Hurley 5K

On Saturday, the family headed over to Huntsville to participate in the Liz Hurley 5K. This race is to raise money for the fight for Breast Cancer and to honor and remember those that have struggled with this disease.

This was the race we had been working hard for 10 weeks to reach in our NOBO running group that Shawn, Heather, David, and Shelley volunteered to help (it is a running group that trains you to run a 3 mile race). The weather has decided to turn to winter (cold and raining). I had a goal of running this in 30 minutes- my running friend, Jennifer and I made it in 30:44(with some help from David). Yes we have BIG smiles on our face cause we are almost at the finish line!!

Nana and Miss. Ducker (Sam's teacher) did great - they ran the whole thing!!! Sam thought that was neat cheering on his Nana and his teacher at the same time.

Everyone in the running group completed the race!! Great job - if running is something you want to do look for this group to start up again in the spring- Get running!!

DHS Homecoming Parade

For the last few years we have enjoyed going to the DHS homecoming parade on Banks St.

The kids love to watch the floats,

the band,

and catching all the candy they throw.

This year Penny has really gotten into being a "cheerleader" so my friend, Julie teaches at DHS got her a real uniform - if you could have seen Penny's face the day she brought it by our house. Then another friend of ours, Rachel, did some magical sewing and made it FIT - Penny was so excited about wearing her uniform today!!
